Troy's Times - February 1st, 2005
Hi Friend! IN THIS ISSUE
“It is not important How we come to the events in our lives, but how we Deal with those events”- Troy
This week’s article: Internal Prisons: The Thief of Productivity and Quality in our Workforce
It is also my belief that these internal prisons are the number one cause of lost productivity and poor quality within our workforce. If people are worried about their relationships, their addictions, their fears, are they going to give you the best eight hours they possibly can? No, they’re going to be on the phone mending relationships, feeding addictions and being preoccupied with their fears. I encourage managers and employees to be proactive in their work, not reactive. Reactive people let the environment dictate what they do and in a sense protect them. By showing business professionals how they can become better people and what is truly important in their lives, they can then become the most they can be on the job. This can be done in several ways: 1. First and foremost create an environment where employees know that their personal lives are just as important as their professional lives. This can come in the form of the CEO making a formal announcement, a memo being sent out, etc. Bottom line is to let them know that you care about them individually and that their personal lives are tied to their professional lives and that as a company you care. 2. Offer confidential counseling. Make a counselor available to those who need to see one regarding their internal prisons. Believe me, it will be far less expensive then the price you pay for lost productivity and shoddy quality. 3. Offer personal days. Paid days where the can have the day to use in any fashion they choose. For those who are not struggling with any internal prisons this can be a day to treat themselves; for those who are struggling perhaps this can be a day when they mend a relationship, see a counselor, address an addiction... The list of what you can offer is limitless. If the the things that I
suggested above (as well as any you can come up with) are in place, and
if you truly create an environment in which we make our employees feel
like
For those of you who subscribe to Troy's Times, you know that I never promote or plug any products (unless it is mine of course!). But I have to share with you something that I was introduced to three months ago. Like all of you I am concerned about my health, stamina, growing old and in general how I feel on a daily basis. This being the case I have always been sure to take my supplements religiously to try and counter that which I do not get in my diet- vitamin e, vitamin c, calcium, a multi and antioxidants. It got to the point where I was taking a handful of pills every morning and evening. Well that recently changed when I was introduced to products from USANA, and in particular "The Essentials" (item101), USANAS core product, providing full spectrum vitamins, minerals and antioxidants- all in one. I am now signed up with a monthly autoship that increases my savings and insures I won't miss a day of this advanced health product. As a speaker who spends many, many days a year on the road, in airports,
on airplanes, in hotels and in general putting out every fire that comes
with this profession (which I love dearly by the way), I can honestly
say that I have never had more energy, bounced back quicker from long
road trips and in general felt better health wise than since I started
taking their vitamins and antioxidants. They contain everything I was
taking before and more! I did my homework on this one, they are rated
number one in North America and I highly recommend you take a look yourself
at http://advancinghealth.usana.com
I guarantee that in a week you will feel like a new person.
(Please note that my opinions in this section are just that- my opinions. Feel free to disagree with them, argue them or dismiss them. As a professional speaker and author, I find that from time to time I offend or upset people. To this I say that I better be offending some people, otherwise I am not doing my job. By making people look at things they are not always comfortable looking at, I expect to ruffle some feathers and welcome your feedback at any time) Featured product for this issue!
